“Hot Ice” - TEFI-Region Award Winner

At the contest TEFI-Region 2016, the Czech–Russian reality show “Hot Ice” was recognised as Best Entertainment Program, marking a significant achievement in regional television production.

“Hot Ice” was developed in collaboration with the professional hockey club Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg. The concept united 24 players from the main team and its youth division “Avto” in unexpected creative duets with prominent cultural and public figures from the Ural region.

Each episode was built around a role-reversal format:
– professional hockey players explored unfamiliar professions for a day;
– their partners — politicians, artists, directors, and media personalities — trained on the ice under the guidance of club coaches.

Viewers voted weekly for their favourite duets, adding an interactive dimension to the programme.

Beyond entertainment, the project had a strategic cultural objective:
to popularise hockey across the Sverdlovsk region, strengthen engagement with the club, and promote a healthy, active lifestyle embodied by the athletes and the sport itself.

The show successfully combined sport, media, and social messaging, positioning hockey not only as competition, but as a cultural phenomenon capable of uniting diverse audiences.
